President Obama has recorded a message congratulating the Queen on her ‘extraordinary 60 years on the throne’ – and has used it as an excuse to reaffirm the countries’ ‘special relationship’.
In the video message released by the White House on Tuesday, Obama, who visited the British monarch at Buckingham Palace last year, praised her ‘loyalty’ and ‘tireless leadership’.
‘On the historic occasion of your Jubilee, Michelle and I send you and all the British people and members of the Commonwealth the heartfelt congratulations of the American people,’ he said.
