Pippingarra Bushfire Alert

The fire is posing a threat to lives and property in the immediate area and FESA has warned that conditions are changing. If you’re near Pippingarra you need to leave now or prepare to put your emergency plan into action.

For those in the Pippingarra area, leave via Great Northern Highway travelling west to Port Hedland. All roads are now open however smoke is present so motorists should try and avoid the area, drive with extreme caution at 60km/h, and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site. For further details contact Main Roads WA on 138 138.

The bushfire is moving slowly in a north-north westerly direction at 100 metres per hour. It is not contained and not controlled.

Volunteer firefighters from Port Hedland and South Hedland, as well as a light tanker from BHP are on the scene. They are protecting assets and buildings including the Brookdale and Bullsbrook Yard. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and allow the fire fighters to undertake their work.
