Pratt mistress Madison Ashton says she quit escort work



A WOMAN quit the escort business to become the mistress of late billionaire Richard Pratt in return for promised cash payments and other inducements, a court has heard.


Madison Ashton alleges Mr Pratt said he would would pay her $500,000 as an annual retainer, cover her yearly rent of $36,000 and set up two trust funds worth $2.5 million each.

She claims that in 2003 there was also discussion of the purchase of a $100,000 car.

Ms Ashton is taking legal action in the New South Wales Supreme Court against Mr Pratt’s widow Jeanne in relation to the estate, seeking damages for breach of contract.

She alleges Mr Pratt failed to deliver on his word by not providing her with some of the promised perks, although she did receive some payments, including $100,000 in 2005.

Mrs Pratt is defending the claim.

Ms Ashton’s barrister, Francis Douglas SC, told the court today that Ms Ashton was promised the gifts on the condition she give up working as an escort and become Mr Pratt’s mistress.

Mr Douglas said it was clear on the evidence the relationship did not last as long as the pair had contemplated, but she had for a time devoted herself to Mr Pratt.

The hearing before Justice Paul Brereton continues.
