‘Referring Iran case to IAEA boosts trust’

“Referring Iran’s case from the UN Security Council (UNSC) back to the IAEA could be the most important confidence-building factor between the two sides, particularly for Iran,”
Member of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Parviz Sorouri said on Sunday.

Sorouri added that the continuation of the “positive” talks between Iran and the P5+1 (Britain, France, Russia, China and the United States plus Germany) is aimed at reducing discord between the sides.

“One case of discord is the imposition of sanctions by the West and the UN against Iran,” Sorouri said, adding that lifting the sanctions could increase the odds of success in the negotiations.

Iran and the P5+1 wrapped up the latest round of their negotiations on April 14 in the Turkish city of Istanbul, and both sides hailed the talks as constructive.

The next round of the talks will be held on May 23 in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
