I know, I know. The latest Ooh-Shiny hit the headlines yesterday during WWDC. Apple announced the new MacBook Pro that is set to compete with the latest ultrabooks.
The Washington Post writes”
“Apple announced Monday that all of its notebooks are getting an update… The company also introduced a new model. The next generation MacBook Pro, unveiled Monday, is ultra-thin and was described by Apple as the “most beautiful computer” that the company’s ever made. The notebook will start at $2199.”
It’s tempting, I’m sure, to look at your old laptop and decide it’s time for an upgrade. Maybe the battery is losing its charge too fast, the exterior is scratched up, the hard drive needs to be replaced… Yes, these are all reasons you might use to talk yourself into replacing your old laptop but there is an online resource that is so awesome, you will hopefully be enticed to keep your old laptop just so you can make use of it. The resource I’m talking about is iFixit, the free online repair manual for a slew of gadgets.
iFixit covers a range of Apple products, including many models of MacBooks from the last few years. The tutorials for installing parts or repairing components are clear, sleek, and can be edited by users. So, we’re hoping that rather than falling in love with the latest model, you might rekindle your love affair with your existing MacBook through iFixit. Think of it like marriage therapy — you appreciate the familiarity you have already built up but you need a little excitement, something to spice up the relationship, to make the old feel new again.
