A spokesman for the Republican National Convention has not yet responded to Business Insider’s request for comment.

But while Paul Festival is designed to celebrate the libertarian iconoclast and his fans, sources close to Paul’s campaign point out that the bash could actually pose some serious political problems for Paul as he winds down his third and final White House bid.

If he doesn’t go, the source explained, he risks losing his grasp on the leadership of the movement, and disappointing his loyal supporters — not to mention the 200+ delegates Paul has pledged to bring to the floor in Tampa. On the other hand, if Paul attends his party, he risks angering and losing leverage with the Republican Party right before the convention, especially in the event of any incidents or discord.

So far, Paul has neither committed nor declined the invitation to speak at his eponymous festival. Attendance will likely depend on whether he shows up, but Siemon predicts between 30,000 and 40,000 people will show, at the least. And organizers are in the process of lining up other Liberty Movement speakers and Liberty-friendly performers to fill the show.

Does it seem like Ron is being completely shut up right now? Is he not allowed to talk or is he in the hospital or something? It is not like him to be totally silent and STILL asking for money to end the Fed in emails from Ron Paul [[email protected]]. With all that has happened since Rand sold out on the absolute worst possible show they could have went on why is Ron totally silent? With all the liberty shows they could have went on to help cushion the blow and explain themselves, they were I think TOLD what to do by their new masters and with Ron not saying one word in public as his good name is being destroyed is more than just a little odd.
I feel betrayed that I signed a pledge to support him until Tampa but he is not honoring that deal with me and so many others that signed the pledge. Rand asked for a pledge for his dad not that long ago stating that it may be the last time we get to support Ron Paul so again I gave twice more. How many times did I give my money to Ron Paul when it was just going to line the pockets of his family members and team? I thought they were running a lean grassroots campaign with hardly any commercials while the whole time he had fat cats making 500k on his team. I really feel betrayed; I did not have the $1,500 in total that I gave to Ron so I put it on a credit card first $100 the $50 at a request, then $25; every time they asked of me. I did it for my children; I really though Ron was the guy and if we all dug deep we could make it happen with the delegates. Romney’s campaign sure fought to stop the delegate process so I thought it was possible for Ron to win just like he said he could.
The biggest question is why is Ron so totally silent s everything he has worked for crumbles at his feet?
As for Rand; he can throw out 80% or more of that magical list they worked so hard to grow.

My fight for liberty and freedom will continue no doubt but I won’t be talking about the Paul’s anymore. And I’m done with CFL too as long as Rand is involved.

I certainly hope I am wrong but what better way to bring out your enemies then for them to openly support a man that had other intention all along.
