Saturn and Moon are putting on a show May 2014

During the middle of May 2014, the Moon and the planet Saturn
will be in close proximity to each other as we observe the two in the
night sky.

During this time, the Moon will be at or close to its full phase.
(It reaches its Full Moon status on Wednesday, May 14.). And, Saturn
will be seen shining similar to a very bright star.

For instance, around dawn of May 14, 2014, Saturn will appear with the Moon in the west-southwestern night sky.

The two will continue to move closer to each other, until they are about 2.5 degrees apart.

Saturn will appear extra bright during this time because it just
passed its closest point in its orbit to the Earth and is at opposition
with the Sun (that is, Earth and Saturn are positioned in the same
direction as seen from the Sun, with the Earth/Moon located between the
Sun and Saturn).
