Police have charged six people following a violent brawl in Hobart’s northern suburbs on saturday night.

Four people have been charged with aggravated assault and another with firearms offences.

Residents have told how they heard gun shots and screaming on Tolosa Street, Glenorchy about 08:30am.

Police allege five people went to a unit, one armed with a shot gun, as part of an ongoing dispute.

They also allege a neighbour fired a shot gun into the air to try and end the dispute.

A witness, who wanted to remain anonymous, says she heard three shots and screaming.

“They went crazy and there was just people running everywhere and I heard another shot gun,” she said

“I was shaking and I just tried to message my son to come home, but I was too shaky to message him so I just rang him and he didn’t believe what I was saying at first.”

The four charged with aggravated assault were due to appear in an out of hours court session on sunday afternoon.
