Forward reports that Menachem Margolin, general director of the Chabad-founded Rabbinical Center of Europe, says that “[metzitzah b’peh] is not an issue that should be discussed in a non-Jewish paper. It’s something to be discussed by rabbis.”
Metzitzah b’peh refers to a Jewish ritual where the mohel (genital mutilator) orally sucks away the blood from an infant’s genital area after cutting away the infant’s foreskin. The practice can infect newborns with herpes simplex virus type 1, according to medical authorities. The virus can be fatal for infants, or cause brain damage. Since 2004, the New York City Department of Health has reported 13 cases that it attributes to MBP, with two deaths.
Recently, Israel’s Chief Rabbinate defended the pedophilic ritual.
This is the Jewish holy practice of “metzitzah b’peh”:
First the genitals of the newborn boy are cut…
… then the rabbi sucks on the bloody wounded penis.
A number of babies have contracted herpes from the penis sucking ritual. In several cases this has lead to brain damage and even death.
