TRAITORS: Democrats in Denver suggest hiring illegals for government jobs amid financial strains and layoffs in the city
In February, Jolon Clark, the recreation director of Denver Parks and Recreation, announced that some hourly on-call employees, including front desk workers, coaches and lifeguards, may have their hours reduced to zero due to the current budget strain.
“The reduction in hours of operation and programs will affect the number of hours worked by many on-call, some to the point where they may not receive any hours. The final decisions on hours for any individual position have not been made yet,” Clark said at that time.
Denver admits that it may not have enough money to pay its American workers, so it plans to cut $4.3 million in the budget to help the city pay for the migrant crisis by putting illegals on the payroll.
The budget crisis is associated with the arrival of approximately 40,000 illegal immigrants in 2023 due to their inability to work legally in the city. In response, a spokesperson for Denver Mayor Mike Johnston announced the possibility of hiring illegal immigrants directly. The spokesperson argued that employing illegal immigrants might be cheaper than supporting them through welfare programs.
This plan has seen support from Colorado Sen. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat, who has urged state officials to bypass federal law and proceed with hiring undocumented immigrants. In a statement, Hickenlooper suggested that local communities might need to take matters into their own hands if the federal government fails to address the issue, even if it means facing legal consequences.
In turn, the city’s expenditure on services for undocumented immigrants, including housing, food and healthcare, has sparked contention, especially among those living on fixed incomes. The proposal has left many employees worried about their livelihoods.
Denver already hiring illegals in schools
While the city of Denver is still evaluating its proposal to hire illegal immigrants due to potential legal consequences, Denver Public Schools (DPS), the public school system for the city and county of Denver and whose administration is separated from the city government, is already hiring foreigners and providing them with visas.
According to the emails obtained by the group Parents Defending Education and reviewed by the Daily Wire, DPS is actively hiring foreigners to make the workforce more diverse and better reflective of the student population.
The public school network has been using its students as an excuse for hosting hiring fairs and hiring visa-sponsored employees. The district’s Facebook page even proudly stated that over 200 teachers were working with DPS on visa sponsorship, with an additional 58 expected in the current school year.
Moreover, DPS is allegedly collaborating with the city, the state and the federal government to assist illegal immigrants in securing employment. Evan Dreyer, deputy chief of staff to the mayor, proposed using DPS buildings for legal clinics to help new arrivals apply for Temporary Protected Status and Employment Authorization Documents.
Temporary Protected Status, initially intended for those fleeing countries with ongoing armed conflicts or extraordinary conditions, has been extended to 16 countries, including El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. Thanks to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), recipients are eligible for Employment Authorization Documents.
However, these DPS initiatives only added to the ongoing budget crisis because illegal immigrants do not pay taxes.
