The Queen is reportedly set to become the first ever British monarch to act in a film by bestowing knighthood to Daniel Craig, who plays the role of the 007 agent.
The potentially controversial role is believed to have been approved by Buckingham Palace because the first James Bond book was released in 1953, which is the year of the Queen’s coronation.
There are also speculations that the acceptance of the role is part of a campaign to promote the Queen’s role as head of state by picturing the famous film industry character being knighted by the real Queen.
A spokesman for Queen Elizabeth confirmed the Buckingham Palace’s involvement in filming projects but refused to offer the details.
“Buckingham Palace is involved in a number of filming projects during this special Jubilee year and we would not go into details of a specific project until a nearer the time of transmission,” the spokesman said.
