‘US militarization plan in Asia crazy’

“This whole idea of militarization of our relationships with Russia and China is not only crazy, but is extremely dangerous,” Jeff Steinberg from Executive Intelligence Review told Press TV in an exclusive interview on Monday.

Steinberg’s comments were in reaction to a new US defense policy to send warships to surround the Asia Pacific region, which has prompted warning from Beijing.

The Chinese see the US building up a deeper alliance system of smaller nations in the Asia-Pacific region as a doctrine of containment and potential preparation for war, he noted.

The Untied States considers Russia and China as two powers that have to be contained and Washington will make effort to “build up a combination of military force” to weaken its rivals, Steinberg went on to say.

“Russian President Putin has threatened that the missile defense issue i.e. the deployment of this ABM (anti-ballistic missile) system in Europe could be a trigger for conflict all the way up to thermo nuclear war,” he maintained.

“Many top American military officials are adamantly opposed to this demonization of Russia and China, but ultimately it’s the president’s call,” Steinberg concluded.
