FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda The wide-spread protests have been staged in various cities across the country. The protests are part of an event called “National Day of Action to Defend the Right to Education.”
The event was called for by the Student Organizations and also by the members of the Occupy Movement, attracting more than 70 schools and Universities nationwide.
Protesters intend to continue their protests by marching on the state Capitol in Sacramento on Monday.
A California University spokesman told the media outlets that the protesters at the University of California at Santa Cruz managed to significantly disrupt campus operations, blocking staff and faculty from getting to work and causing class cancellations.
The protests are the latest in a string of protests against the lack of funding for public education in the state, which has resulted in sharp tuition fee increases for public universities in recent years.
The sticker price of studying and living on campus at the average US public university rose 5.4 percent (about USD1,100) for in-state students to reach USD21,447 in the autumn of 2011.
On December 2nd 2011, some 200 students at the San Francisco State University set up their first Occupy encampment at the Malcolm X Plaza, in protest against a planned tuition fee increase and similar demonstrations are expected to be held in other universities across the country over the rising cost of tuition.
Previously, US police had attacked and used pepper spray against Occupy protesters at the California University campus — a move which drew vehement condemnation from rights activists.
