Vic car rollover kills woman

A woman has died and a teenager is fighting for life in hospital after a car ran off the road and rolled in Victoria’s east.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was driving with two passengers in her car when it left the road and overturned at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Lindenow-Meerlieu Rd, near Bairnsdale, just after 4pm (AEST), police say.

She died at the scene.

A male front seat passenger, aged in his late teens, was airlifted to Melbourne’s The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.

A female backseat passenger, aged in her 50s, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bairnsdale Hospital.

Victoria’s road toll stands at 136, compared to 150 at the same time last year.
