Video: Trudeau Accuses Elon Musk of “Attacking Independent Media Organizations”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau openly accused Elon Musk of “attacking foundational Canadian institutions” Monday after Twitter slapped CBC, Canada’s mostly state funded media outlet with a “government funded” label.

Trudeau claimed that CBC is an “independent media organization,” despite the fact that it is almost wholly funded by the Canadian government.

The Canadian leader lumped Musk in with his conservative opponents, and charged that they had “run to American billionaire tech giants” to “constantly attack” Canadians.

“They’re choosing to constantly attack independent media organizations, journalists who are working hard to keep Canadians informed and support our democracy,” Trudeau proclaimed.

Pierre Poilievre, Canada’s conservative opposition leader, tweeted about the Twitter move on CBC, noting that “now people know that it is Trudeau propaganda,”

CBC complained that it is not wholly funded by the Canadian government, so Musk obliged the company:

Then CBC complained that it is “less than 70% government funded,” so Musk hilariously updated the label on the outlet’s Twitter account:

As we highlighted earlier, CBC announced that it is pausing its Twitter activity in response to the Twitter labelling.
