Weapons used in Beechboro brawl

UP to 80 people were involved in a wild street brawl in Beechboro this morning using weapons including machetes, poles, bottles and branches.

Police say the brawl erupted in the car park of a community club on Beechboro Road about 3am.

The venue had been hired out for a function last night.

When police arrived they saw up to 80 people fighting in two groups.

“During the fight these persons were throwing bottles and using branches and street poles,” Duty Inspector Neil Blair said.

“One person was sighted running amongst the crowd with a machete.”

Inspector Blair said some of the bottles were thrown towards police, landing about two metres from them.

The regional operations group, mounted police and local police officers were called in to break up the brawl.

Two cars were damaged during the clash.

One person was issued with a move on notice and another person was summonsed to appear in court.

No injuries were reported.
