Yemeni figures slam foreign meddling

During the closing of a two-day meeting in the northern province of Sa’ada on Monday, the Yemeni officials, including military commanders, and the clergy condemned Saudi Arabia’s interference at the border regions of Yemen’s northern provinces, according to Al-Alam news channel.

The meeting, dubbed “Yemen for Yemenis and Yemenis for the United Yemen,” also denounced interfering efforts by the American ambassador to the capital Sana’a.

The participants also challenged an upcoming anti-Yemen conference, scheduled to be held in northern Jawf province.

The Yemeni officials further reiterated the necessity of developing practical solutions to the country’s ongoing crisis, particularly with regards to the setbacks Sa’ada province is suffering from.

Yemen has been the scene of a popular uprising since January 2011, with protesters demanding reforms and better living conditions as well as the trial of former dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh and his regime members for their involvement in the killing of peaceful demonstrators.
