Young women sexually assaulted in Rozelle

A woman has been sexually assaulted in bushland in inner western Sydney, police say.

The 20-year-old woman allegedly entered a taxi with a man she had only recently met, near Hyde Park in the city at about 9.50pm on Saturday.

“The pair was driven to the intersection of Lilyfield and Victoria Road at Rozelle, where they got out of the cab.

After the taxi drove away, the man forced the woman into an area of secluded bushland on the side of the road and sexually assaulted her,” police said in a statement.

“The woman eventually managed to break free and run from the scene.”

The assailant is described as being of African appearance, over 183cm tall, thin build, short black hair and spoke with a British accent.

Investigators are appealing for the taxi driver, as well as other motorists in the area, to come forward with any information they may have on the man.
