Police investigate stabbing death in Dandenong

THE homicide squad in Victoria is investigating the stabbing death of a young man found in a carpark stairwell last night.


The man was found covered in blood after suffering multiple stab wounds at the Myer carpark at Dandenong Plaza.

Paramedics were called but the man died at the scene.

He was discovered at 10.45pm (AEST) by another man who is assisting police with their inquiries, but he is not a suspect.

The dead man has not been formally identified.

Detectives remain at the scene this morning as they continue to search for a weapon.

Forensic officers are examining evidence on a grass area out the front of local council offices.

Clow St remains blocked between Stud Rd and Princes Hwy and is expected to reopen mid-morning.

The police dog squad is assisting in the search.

Hastings Acting Senior Sergeant Steve McCrae said police were appealing for witnesses.

Sen-Sgt McCrae said he believed the stabbing was not gang-related.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, several shots were fired into a car repairers in Freeman St, Campbellfield.

No one was injured.
