Qatar recalls ambassador to Iran

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA — Qatar recalled its ambassador to Tehran to become the latest country as a sign of solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Jordan, Djibouti, and Turkey also expressed pro-Saudi positions on Wednesday.

On Monday, Sudanese foreign ministry said that Khartoum has severed diplomatic relations with Tehran.

Also on Monday, the Bahraini government decided to sever its diplomatic ties with Iran by recalling ambassador from Iran.

The Bahrain government, meantime, asked Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours.

A diplomatic source referring to Riyadh’s severance of diplomatic ties with Iran said that the Saudis are trying to encourage some other Persian Gulf littoral states to join its decision.

Saudi troops in support of Al-Khalifa regime in Bahrain and in a bid to confront Bahraini protesters have the island within the frameworks of Island Shield Forces to suppress protesters in Bahrain.

Previously, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has downgraded relations with Tehran to chargé d’affaires level, said the news.

In the statement, Sudan has condemned the attack on Saudi embassy in Iran.
Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have severed relations with Tehran.
