FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda
Just another daily hiccup in the Republican Party’s big tent strategy to being more inclusive to minorities and women. I guess Republican Don Young, 79 must have forgotten that when he referred to Hispanic migrant workers as ” Wetbacks”.
The racial slur came during an interview when the Alaska Rep was discussing the Hispanics that worked on his family’s farm when he was growing up in California,
“we used to have 50-60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes.” He said, “It takes two people to pick the same tomatoes now. It’s all done by machine.”
The remark brought fast denouncements from both Democrats and Republicans. The Republican Party has steadily been losing the Hispanic vote over the last few elections largely due to their positions on immigration, but also due to the changing demographics of the country.
Rep. Young 79, is the second most senior Republican in the House issued an unapologetic statement Thursday saying that he,
“meant no disrespect”, this non-apology wasn’t enough for lawmaker’s on both sides of the aisle who denounced the Congressman’s statement. Speaker John Boehner release a statement saying,
“Congressman Young’s remarks were offensive and beneath the dignity of the office he holds. I don’t care why he said it — there’s no excuse and it warrants an immediate apology,”
Another high-profile Republican Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, said the comments “do nothing to elevate our party, political discourse or the millions who come here looking for economic opportunity.”
Congressional Hispanic Caucus chairman Ruben Hinojosa, D-Texas, said, “Shame on Don Young,” and went to further commit, “It is deeply disheartening that in 2013, we are forced to have a discussion about a member of Congress using such hateful words and racial slurs.”
