$1 Gas: Glitch At Pasadena, Texas Conoco Station Leads To Cheap Gas Frenzy

For some lucky Texas motorists on Sunday night, it was 1998 all over again.

KTRK-TV in Houston reports that a computer glitch in pumps at a Conoco gas station in Pasadena, Texas temporarily led to $1.01 per gallon gas for a few hours late Sunday night and early Sunday morning.

After word of the mishap spread on Facebook, so many people were scrambling to get the low-price gas, police were sent to the station.

A video posted by YouTube user LUXURY713 shows cars lined up and parked waiting to fill up with cheap fuel.

One woman said that she filled up two cars and two Expeditions for a total $57, according to the above video from ABC News.

The last time gas was around $1.01 was in 1998, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, when it was sold for $1.03 per gallon. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. is $3.92, according to AAA.
