An alarming report has surfaced according to which an unarmed 15-yr-old boy has been shot and killed by police.

The victim, Jordan Edwards, was a model student and athlete, and his family is devastated.

According to the family’s attorney, Lee Merritt, Jordan was unarmed and was not committing any crime when he was fatally shot.

Preliminary reports from the police claim that officers were dispatched to a party where underage drinking was occurring.

At some point during their search for intoxicated minors, officers say that they heard gunshots.

Jordan, at the time, was in a vehicle as a passenger. For reasons that have not been made clear yet, one officer opened fire on that vehicle, killing Jordan.

The Balch Springs Police have released a statement, as follows:

“There was an unknown altercation with the vehicle backing down the road towards the officers in an aggressive manner. An officer shot at the vehicle, striking a front seat passenger. The individual was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

There were no firearms recovered from the vehicle, and Merrit says that the minors inside of the vehicle were not the intoxicated ones that police had been searching for.

Far from committing a crime, the Jordan and his friends in the vehicle were leaving the party because they heard gunshots and were attempting to find a safe place.

“They were simply leaving a party where they believed danger was, so I can’t wrap my mind around why an officer decided to shoot into the car,” said Merrit.

Merrit further stated on facebook that “an unarmed 15 y/o child died after being shot in the head by Balch Springs PD. A cop shot multiple rounds into a car filled with teens.
