Turkey continued its attaks against the YPG in northern Syria despite condemnations from the governments of Syria, Russia, and the United States, among others. The United States, Russia as well as the Syrian government see the YPG as an important ally in the fight against ISIS.

However, on Maj 1 the YPG reported that Turkish occupying forces and “the gangs under their command” continue to attacks on and violations of the territory of Rojava. On April 28, 2017 an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Turkish military reportedly carried out reconnaissance flights over the villages of Zormixar and Ziyaret around Kobanê.
