Egypt's national karate team held the Palestinian flag as they accepted medals for first and second place at the International Championship, the Trbovlje open, in Slovenia. The Israeli player, who came third, raised the Israeli flag at the same time. Support for Palestine is common during sporting competitions across the world. In 2019 a football fan was arrested during a match at Cairo International Stadium after he raised the Palestinian flag in support of people living under occupation.
