As rising energy prices continue to hit ordinary Australians hard, a new national survey has shown that the country’s energy consumers want to see more government intervention in the energy market.
Energy Consumers Australia (ECA), a national advocacy group that represents residential and small business energy consumers, has found in their latest Energy Consumer Sentiment Survey, that Australians are losing faith that the energy market can deliver the energy they need.
Energy Consumers Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Lynne Gallagher, said that the results of the December survey, which is taken biannually, were truly concerning.
“Consumers are losing faith that the energy system can deliver for them, with only 35 percent of households saying that they are confident the market is working in their interests, down by 11 percent in the past year,” Gallagher said…. Source
