A jury in Wisconsin ordered former Badger Guns, previously known as Badger Outdoors, and now incorporated as Brew City Shooters Supply, all 3 companies owned by Adam Allan, to pay upwards of $6 million in restitution to 2 Milwaukee police officers who were shot and injured by a gun purchased at this gun store.
The court ruled that Badger Guns was negligent in selling a gun that was used to harm the 2 officers Bryan Norberg and Graham Kunisch.
Both officers were shot in the face with a .40 – caliber semiauthomatic handgun by Julius Burton after stopping him for riding his bike.
Burton told the authorities that he purchased the gun through a friend who was given the money to buy the gun from Badger Guns because he was underage.
Surveillance video showed Burton with his friend at Badger Guns just one month prior to the shooting, purchasing the gun. Donald Flora, the store clerk at Badger Guns, helped Burton’s friend fill out the paperwork.
It was argued in court that Flora did not know at the time that this was a strawman purchase.
This is not the first time this gun store sold a gun to a patron that ended up using the gun to harm others. In fact, law enforcement has linked 537 firearms used at crime scenes and in the lawsuit it was alleged that Badger Guns “ignored several warning signs that the gun used to shoot the officers was being sold to a so-called straw buyer who was illegally purchasing the weapon for someone else.”
Badger Guns is known as the “number one crime gun dealer in America.”
In closing arguments, the officer’s attorney said: “If [Badger Guns] had done their job, Bryan and Graham wouldn’t have been shot June 9th.”
