WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Jonathan Hefney has apologized for offending fans with comments on Twitter.
The tweet involved some lewd comments and a link to a photo of a partially naked woman.
Hefney sent “his deepest apologies” to fans and thanked them for their support.
A team spokesman says he’s glad the all-star player apologized but the Bombers still plan on tightening their social media policy.
Hefney was back home in the United States when he posted the offending tweet.
But team spokesman Darren Cameron says players have to realize they are representing the team even during the off-season.
