Adam vs The Man
Aug 22, 2011

In response to a recent wave of lemonade stand shut downs and harassment of children over such petty regulations as are used to shut them down, several activists gathered at the west lawn of the capitol in Washington, DC to sell lemonade and were arrested.

While the officers were technically on solid “legal” ground in shutting down the stand, they behaved inappropriately by any standard numerous times, using intimidation tactics on protestors and observers, and harassing members of the professional media. The willingness with which children and tourists participated by purchasing lemonade in disobedience of the police instructions is an indicator of how little respect the general public has for government in general, and specifically police when enforcing unjust laws.

Gives me hope for America. For those who are complaining about the public property not being used for its intended purpose, part of the point of this that the government should not be using public property for the glorification of government when it could be better used to serve public interests. Excessive vending at the capitol (or without a permit in any public space) would surely be preferable to 22.5% unemployment. Free the economy!

It’s the point Vic… their just selling lemonade… this is the kind of attitude that allows the dumbass cops to get away with this kind of crap… and believe me, there are a lot more dumbass cops than there are ones with half a brain…

Vic who cares if it is 70 year olds selling lemonade. What this is about is supercorporation making it impossible to have their own businesses without paying fees so outragiously high that they cannot be in business. This is about making your own living instead of being slaves to the corporations who control the wages and dictate how much you can make for a living. These supercorporation create all kinds of red tape, economic hoops, precedure that have nothing to do with safety or anything else. These corporations get unlimited money from Wall street that the government prints everyday. As a results, it is impossible for you to make a living on your own. They bribe Congress to get the money and tell congress to bring in more illegals to enslave us with lower wages. Wages they want to dictate.

a 13 year old may be a ‘teen’ but they are still a child. That is half of what is wrong with people today-children are NOT little adults and are being forced to grow up too soon by politics. If children are not ‘politicized’ why are they eventually paying for the future debt the policies are generating? Children are politicized by default. It is really a shame that an innocent lemonade stand has become a political issue. The way they have trashed the economy and gave billions to bail out companies they have the nerve to demand permit money from anyone.

“children defy???? come on it is more adults behind this. Children are not politicised.”

Children across America are politicized each and every day in these institutions of political indoctrination called schools. They are politicized into a Marxist social theory which demonizes the natural order of things.

  2. This sounds about right for the cops in the Washington, D.C. area to behave: they pick on the weak, the poor and little kids who are just out trying to make an honest dollar.

  4. No, businesses need a permit to sell in the public commons.
The ‘officers’ were NOT on a solid legal footing.

    PISS OFF!!!!!

  6. This is good for the children. They will learn about how government works against them. Government is used by the rich to step on the poor even (or especially) in the most petty of ways.

I remember when I was small I told my mom “it’s on TV and if it is false then everybody will know” and she said “not everything you see on TV is true.” I now realize that they can lie right in your face because no one is allowed to air their differences. The truth is suppressed; fortunately it never goes away though.

  7. The government does not really OWN the public land-hence*Public*

We OWN the government and all it’s resources. Somehow all their unlawful laws unlawfully reverted the *public property to the government itself and that is NOT how America was intended to be. If they make all the rules for public and private property we are no longer a free world. Laws are supposed to be for the safety of the public and under their rules you would have to literally test every sip and every bite of any food sales to be assured of the safety. That is about as ridiculous as shutting down a children’s lemonade stand. Why do we pay them again? It is tax money that pays the salaries of the tyranny. Public Service ought to be free and for the public? Sadly they have turned public service into government service and constituted the public as enemy #1.

  8. The kids should have thrown the lemons at them! Police are a big bunch of sour pusses and not worth a dime.

  9. Personally i think more cops were needed to arrest 3 people, there should have been at least 50 pigs.
    Selling lemonade is terrorism people.

Those pigs don’t have enough intelligence to be ashamed for what they are doing.

  10. It is things like this happening all over amerikka that will cause the people to rise up and start a revolution.

When you take away the ability to earn an honest living through hard work the majority of people will focus on taking away the ability of government to keep on killing us with regulations/laws that are only designed to help the rich.

After all, if a 10 year old kid had the money to pay for all the permits required to sell a fifty cent galss of juice then they would not need to sell the juice in the 1st place!

  11. Lemonade stands are a godamn american tradition all over this land. Have been for all of my 62 years. I’m not believing this shit. It can’t really be happening can it? Like Matso Man wrote; this is a good education for the children. They will come up knowing the real deal.

  12. I’d love to see 500 stands next weekend, then 5,000, then 20,000.

my GOD they arrest people for daring to dance too.

there oughtta be a protest by people of color at the Lincoln memorial
“gee thanks for making us unemployed and homeless”
not that slavery is right at all but it WAS the effect of an unneeded civil war!
fair wages, fair housing prices, education, could have been made policy but nooooo!
I’m not racist, but I know this thing called government IS.

  13. nice exposition of facism

  14. Holy Shit! That kid is selling LEMONADE!!! o_O
Quick! Call in Riot Police, SWAT, Air Support NATO
Be advised.. the kid can flick coins in your face, so bring guns and apaches and and.. hell, just get THE WHOLE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX out here and take out this kid dead or alive. What do we care, we kill kids in war-torn countries all the time.. we must really enforce these laws for our illuminati masters and corporate interests =s
