Climate Change Alarmist Has a Change of Mind

James Lovelock proposed reducing the world’s population to 1 billion in 2009.

Lovelock also stated in 2010 that average people are too stupid to stop man-made climate change themselves; and therefore need governments to help them stop themselves.

And it was Lovelock who said that “democracy must be put on hold” for the sake of global warming.
He also pontificated that “a few people with authority” should be given authority to oversee the planet’s management because common people lack the intelligence to run their own lives.

Now Lovelock has a new statement to make.

He admits that he is a climate change “alarmist” and even goes as far as to say that his environmental comrades, like Al Gore, Mikail Gorbachev, and Robert Redford, are as well.

He is not a denier; however he acknowledges that the changes occurring on the Earth have other explanations than those that are purported by man-made climate change alarmists. Lovelock looks to the oceans as an uncharted area of great importance to the weather patterns and “the difference between a hot age and an ice age.”

Lovelock says he “made a mistake”, yet is doubtful university or government scientists would admit the same for fear of their funding being pulled.
Lovelock believes that Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth and Tim Flannery’s “The Weather Makers” are clear examples of alarmists. These films serve to fear-monger the public into believing an idea that is devoid of scientific facts, yet seems so plausible

Lovelock has taken it all back. He says he had been “extrapolating too far”. This is coming from the author of such books as:

  • Revenge of Gaia: Why the Earth Is Fighting Back – and How We Can Still Save Humanity
  • The Vanishing Face of Gaia: A Final Warning: Enjoy It While You Can

Lovelock has moved away from his past of eco-terrorism and wants to point out that humanity can live in harmony with the Earth’s systems; much like plants, hinting that carbon dioxide is not such a detriment as other man-made global warming alarmists

“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” Lovelock said. “The climate is doing its usual tricks. There’s nothing much really happening yet. We were supposed to be halfway toward a frying world now. The world has not warmed up very much since the millennium. Twelve years is a reasonable time… it (the temperature) has stayed almost constant, whereas it should have been rising — carbon dioxide is rising, no question about that,” he added.

Lovelock admits that the rate of warming he and his fellow alarmists predicted have not come to fruition.

There is still a bit of the old globalist left in Lovelock as he claims air pollution coming from China and other “developing” countries could be having an effect on the climate.

the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is still holding fast to their guns over climate change stating that satellites and sensors on land, in the air and seas “continue to show that the average global surface temperature is rising.”, yet they have shifted their sight-line to the oceans and extreme weather of recent as the culprit.
