Copblock Radio EP 124: “Whats With The Flag Worship?”

This week on Copblock Radio our hosts were myself (Severin Freeman) from Lehigh Valley Copblock, Matt Taylor of Carbon County Copblock, and Joshua Scott Hotchkins from Iowa City Copblock. We attempted to get the phone lines working, but discovered there were still a few glitches to work out– we apologize to those who tried to call in on air- we will definitely have it working next week with a new number: (872) 267-2525!

We started off the show by giving a run down of our police encounters and our fun with flags! Over the weekend, Lehigh Valley, Allentown, & Carbon County Copblock teamed up to “honor” our new thin blue line flags which were sent to us by Ademo. I also made a meme using a pic Rick Gonzalez of Allentown Copblock took of his flag in the toilet. The meme went crazy with shares & even death threats!

Next, we announced our douchebag of the week: Jay/Justin, the creator of Citizens Against Copblock (CACB). He’s a baby twit & a shit bag. We also followed up with last week’s douchebag, Officer Shepulski. I got my FOIA request for his record & confirmed his past issues have been erased/blocked from his current record due to his stint in rehab. Just another abusive bully using the system & switching departments to remain in uniform.

Afterward, we watched & discussed a video where a probation officer in LA beat a teen in juvenile hall while a supervisor watched on and did nothing. One of the officers is seen pushing the kid down onto his bed and begins punching the teen in the face. Shortly after, the other officers pile on too. The incident is now under investigation after someone inside the probation department leaked the footage. The chief of probation  has turned over the case to the DA’s Office who will determine whether criminal charges will be filed against the probation officers.

Next up, we watched another video where Madison Police beat & tased a woman. The video caused all sorts of outrage and sparked locals to protest the treatment the woman received. While we agree that woman was acting outrageous, the officers didn’t even try to subdue and restrain her. The officers seem to be trying to hurt/punish her and their excessive force cannot be justified by her actions.

Then, we talked about an article about Denver Police being sued for coercion. Lawrence Lorenzo Montoya was just 14 years old when police made him confess to murder despite evidence proving otherwise. He was convicted based on that false confession and spent thirteen years in prison before his innocence was proven by DNA evidence. Montoya filed a $30 million dollar lawsuit against the Denver Police Department, as well as the city and county of Denver, over the life sentence he received for the wrongful conviction.

After our long break, we had a laugh over Oakland Police department. They have been through three chiefs in a week! Every time a new one was announced, he was found to be involved in the ongoing sex scandal and were fired or resigned.  When the first removal was announced, the mayor compared the conduct of the Oakland PD to a frat house and stated that it would not tolerate the misconduct and lack of accountability. Finally, a town is taking action against corruption!

Next, we had a long discussion about the thin blue line flag. The modified version of the USA flag is being worn by officers is black & white with one thin blue line, which police often contend represents the barrier between “anarchy and a civilized society, between order and chaos, or between respect for decency and lawlessness.” However, we perceive this as a representation of the blue code of silence among cops and a direct violation of the US Flag Code. The official usage of a modified flag on police officers’ uniforms is nothing less than an assault on the flag itself. For some reason, copsuckers are even more insane than usual over support of it. As previously mentioned, we’ve received death threats for our flag in the toilet meme.

We ended the show with one last video. Chicago cops were caught stomping on a suspect’s head until he was knocked unconscious and required being taken to the hospital. An investigation into the video  has been launched and the offending officer has been stripped of his police powers. However, he is still on desk duty.
