A Melbourne man convicted of murdering his four-year-old daughter in an act of revenge has lost his legal challenge to have his sentence reduced.

The Victorian Supreme Court jailed Ramazan Acar to life in prison, with a minimum term of 33 years, for murdering four-year-old Yazmina in November 2010.

Acar, of Meadow Heights pleaded guilty to repeatedly stabbing his daughter, as payback to the child’s mother. They were separated.

The 24-year-old also boasted about his daughter’s death on Facebook.

In rejecting Acar’s attempt to appeal against the severity of his sentence, the Victorian Court of Appeal described his crime as brutal, callous, cruel, sadistic and “utterly appalling”.

Acar will be eligible for parole in 2044.
