Cousins charged with cannabis offences

Former AFL star Ben Cousins is facing new drugs charges after being stopped by police in Perth and allegedly found with a small amount of cannabis and a smoking implement.

The 33-year-old was stopped in the coastal suburb of North Beach at 7.30am (WST) on Tuesday and a search of his car by officers found less than a gram of cannabis and the smoking device, a police spokeswoman told AAP.

He has been summonsed to appear in court at a future date charged with possessing cannabis and possessing a smoking implement.

The latest charges follow his appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court on April 2 charged with possessing 4.56 grams of methamphetamine with intent to sell or supply.

That followed his well-publicised arrest the week before in the WA coastal town of Esperance, where he was attending a drug rehabilitation centre.
