SIMON Cowell’s close female friends reportedly “warned him” to be careful about his alleged relationship with Lauren Silverman.
The New York socialite is rumoured to be pregnant with Cowell’s baby and is around ten weeks along. She is married to his good friend Andrew Silverman, who has filed papers to divorce Lauren and named Cowell in them.
The music mogul is known for staying close to his ex-girlfriends and is particularly good pals with Sinitta, Jackie St Clair and Terri Seymour. It has been suggested the women were always wary of Silverman.
“Simon was warned – on multiple occasions – that he needed to be careful. Everyone was aware that they were hooking up and that Lauren was married. Naturally, Simon’s friends were very concerned about the situation and made that known to him,” an insider told RadarOnline.
Lauren’s stepfather, Stewart Eisenberg, told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that his stepdaughter slept with Cowell because she was lonely in her marriage and you “can’t put a credit card under your arm when you go out to dinner”.
He said that in her younger days the now 36-year-old “broke a lot of hearts” and had men lining up to date her as she was “breathtaking” in her beauty.
Cowell is said to be shell-shocked about the situation as he had not planned on having a baby with Silverman.
He was all smiles at a One Direction concert in Las Vegas over the weekend and is now thought to have travelled to the south of France. He will holiday on a yacht there and plans to take stock of the situation away from the public spotlight.
It has been claimed he is upset about being mentioned in the divorce documentation and last week refused to discuss the rumours about his personal life when questioned.
According to TMZ, the 53-year-old star is hoping Lauren will choose to settle the divorce rather than drag it out into a long battle.
“Our sources say Simon has painted a clear picture to Lauren – the money she’ll get from Andrew is minimal because of their prenup, so any significant cash will come from Mr. X Factor himself,” reports the website.
One issue is that Andrew and Lauren have a seven-year-old son so need to come to an agreement about his custody.
