TCP : The body of an Egyptian who was killed in attempted robbery at the airport in Caracas, Venezuela might take time to return Egypt, announced Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu Zaid Monday.
In a statement to Mehwar TV Channel, Abu Zaid explained that in such accidents, where a criminal aspect is involved, bodies cannot be released “until circumstances of the crime are revealed.”
He further added that the Egyptian embassy in Venezuela is following up on the issue, and has urged Venezuelan authorities to fasten procedures of investigations as possible. Abu Zaid also said that an operation room at the consulate department is receiving complaints 24/7 on the available phone number 01220473333.
The victim’s father stated to the same TV program Monday that he “just want to see his son and bury him.”
On March 19, Abdel Rahman el-Sayed, 30, was attacked by assailants on motorbikes outside Simón Bolívar Airport, where he was shot dead after resisting a robbery attempt, according to news reports, including Venezuelan.
Sayed was reportedly coming from Frankfurt to work for PDVSA, the Venezuelan state-owned oil and natural gas Company, Al-Arabiya website quoted the Venezuelan news website El-Nacional.
