Ministers’ obsession with green taxes is driving up energy bills, bringing financial pain to millions of families, it was claimed last night.
Business groups demanded cuts in fuel prices be given a higher priority than meeting EU targets to reduce carbon emissions.
But the Government energy summit yesterday offered no hope that struggling families and businesses will be offered lower energy bills this winter. The ‘big six’ energy giants have increased tariffs by 15 per cent-plus in recent weeks, raising the average annual dual fuel bill by around £175 to £1,345.
This figure is inflated by around £100 to cover a raft of green taxes and associated charges, which are set to soar in the next decade. Mr Huhne is the chief cheerleader for the charges, which are being used to fund a £200billion shift to wind, wave, solar and nuclear power.

IF the existing sewage treatment plants were retro-fitted to collect and burn METHANE
(which burns pretty damn clean too btw) it’d supply over half the energy demands.
not joking, our bodies use about 15% of the calories (heat!) we take in.
our bodies run at an equivalent approximate of 100 to 125 watts, do the math.
125 x 5 = 625 watts. 125 x 6 = 90.. of the 100%… PER PERSON!
this means a household of 3 could be generating 1800-1900 watts, if it were harnessed.
these SOB’s talk about “going green”, when they oughtta be thinking BROWN.
methane can run an engine just like propane, and that engine could be turning an alternator or generator. theres TONS of engines that could be easily serviceable from the scrapyards.
the exhaust heat routed to the sewage digesting tanks, would increase methane production AND it’d also make the output cleaner, because bacteria would be more COOKED!
sewage treatment output ALWAYS ends up in the water, this’d be better environmentally too.
it wouldnt cost much of anything to make this idea happen,
but that’d interfere with their CARBON TAX SCAMMING!
not kidding, they tried to kill my dad for showing it worked, some 35 years ago.
it demonstrated that their “established science” was nasty and wrong.
the “energy delivery system” (SEWERS!) are already in place.
closing the digester tanks for methane collection isnt rocket science.
they HAVE earth drills that run sideways to plant the exhaust heatpipes under the tanks.
the engines-generators would just need to hook into the existing power grid.
it’d lower energy prices, cleaner sewage treatment output, reduce pollutions..
because it’s very much “recycling BROWN ENERGY”,
but the A-HOLES IN CHARGE, dont want to hear about it.
Anyone old enough like me to remember the first dramatic energy cost spikes? If you said “Carter Administration” you would be correct– those spikes back in the 70′s were the direct result of idiotic federal cost mandates that applied ONLY to domestic (within the US) oil production– which is why the USA originally started importing oil– all because of one idiotic man who could not see the forest for the trees standing in front of him– the “trees” of truth that tell a petroleum company that “Hey, this oil we want to buy to make gas, costs WAY more here in the USA, because of this president’s mandate against the US oil companies– let’s all get our oil from the Saudis or wherever it’s a LOT cheaper to buy!”. That also directly led to the gas shortages resulting price hikes because they simply couldn’t ship oil from overseas fast enough, creating a demand/supply deficit– SIMPLE DAMNED FIRST GRADE MATH and ECON 101, and a “human caused economic DISASTER” that took another president (REAGAN) to FIX.
how does taxing people 300$ when they sell their house help “boost incentives for electricity conservation and encourage renewable sources of energy. ” again? I missed the bridge between the two. And british and canadians citizens get to set the precedent for the green gestapo. LOL let them come inside your house and star t inspections, they have been looking for a valid reason for many many decades.
