A 27-year-old man has been charged after a loaded handgun and drugs were found in his car during a traffic stop on the Gold Coast, police say.
Police stopped the car about 4pm (AEST) on Friday on the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Waters and discovered two grams of amphetamines and a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the car, they said.
The man faces a number of charges including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of dangerous drugs.
Police said they believe the driver may have connections with a bikie gang.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 13.
