Eco Wine Review: Hahn SLH Estate 2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

© Hahn Estate

Hahn SLH Estate’s 2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is brimming with bright fruit, dark undertones and those farmyard aromas common to most Pinots. With notes of pepper, strawberry and dried mint on the palette, this wine is as food-friendly as it is drinkable. It retails for $35 and can be aged up to 7 years.

The heartiness of this pinot makes me want to bust out the BBQ! Grilled garlic asparagus with meyer lemon peels is the first thing that comes to mind.

Hahn Estate is SIP certified using a variety of sustainable practices to bring you tasty, tasty wine. Chemicals are avoided and such things as cover crops are used for soil management, while lady bugs and lace wings are used to control pests. Hahn believes being green also involves the people who work the farm. All farm workers are provided with fair wages and full benefits. Also, no animal products were used in making this wine so it is vegan.
