FPD Officer Thinks Watching the Police is a Waste of Time

In the wake of the Dylan Noble shooting that just happened in Fresno and the incidents that forced Chief Jerry Dyer to release the footage captured by officers body cameras. One would imagine that police transparency is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. There would’ve been no release if it hadn’t been for a witness who filmed the last two of four shots fired. And multiple demonstrations demanding the footage.

While swinging through a drive through on the way back to my house, I noticed two Fresno police officers conducting a vehicle search on the side of the road. The stop was probably related to a minor traffic violation but could have been a case of profiling, considering the driver was on probation. Whatever the reason, the police didn’t hesitate to start looking for reasons to send him back to a cage.

It’s true that in most cases you have to submit to searches when on probation. It doesn’t matter if the search is related to your probation terms or not However, this is for no other reason than to augment your behavior and provide the police with 24hr access to your personal life. These searches do more to criminalize the person subject to them, than to keep anyone safe.

Eventually a couple of the man’s friends showed up and were hanging around watching the cops finish up the stop. Nobody knew they were connected and one officer quipped, ‘Don’t you have anything better to do?” Implying they were wasting their time by watching them “do their job”. The cop turned sheepish when they replied, “We’re his friend”.

The probation system, like all other parts of the enforcement class, is full of corruption, just the same as any institution where its members maintain a level of dominance over other individuals. Probation officers demand bribes in the form of money, sexual favors or other gestures if their subjects wish to remain outside of a cage.

These agents of the state do nothing to serve the individuals assigned to them and instead choose only to serve themselves by extorting someone who has paid for their crimes and is now in a precarious position if they wish to remain free. While at the same time complying with the demands of a complete stranger in control of their freedom.

Probation and parole are just invisible state leashes used to create opportunities to re-criminalize people and send them back to jail. It makes sense why the US has the largest prison population in the world. Not only do we have a private prison industrial complex, that has created a demand for prisoners, if you survive your time incarceration there will be a myriad of complex hoops you will have to successfully navigate if you wish to remain unshackled.
