G5+1 commitment to nuclear deal not satisfactory: Iranian official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy head of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) said despite the fact that six world powers are pleased with Tehran’s adherence to its commitments under the July 2015 nuclear deal, the Islamic Republic is not satisfied with the other party’s fulfillment of its undertakings.

Speaking at a meeting with a high-ranking economic delegation from the German state of Bavaria in Tehran, Akbar Komeijani pointed to Iran’s insurance and banking problems in financial transactions with European countries, saying that certain European insurance companies resist cooperating with the Islamic Republic despite termination of anti-Iran sanctions after the nuclear agreement came into force.

“The Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) express satisfaction with Iran’s compliance with its commitments under the (nuclear) deal, but unfortunately, there is not such a sense of satisfaction with the other party’s (level of) commitment in Iran,” he said.

The Iranian official further emphasized that sanctions imposed on Iran before the nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), made Tehran’s European partners suffer huge losses.

While the JCPOA, a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 came into force on January 16, some Iranian officials complain about the other party’s failure to fully implement the accord.

Last month, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.

Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, Imam Khamenei said, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.
