Gordon Wood was convicted over the 1995 murder of Caroline Byrne.

Convicted murderer Gordon Wood could walk free from jail, with a Sydney court today ruling on his appeal.

Wood, a chauffer for the late stockbroker Renee Rivkin, is serving a minimum 13-year sentence.

In 2008, a jury found him guilty of murdering his model girlfriend Caroline Byrne by throwing her from The Gap, a notorious suicide spot in Sydney’s east.

During an appeal hearing his lawyers questioned the conduct of prosecutor Mark Tedeschi QC in his closing address to the jury, as well as the use of evidence provided by an expert witness at his trial.

They asked for the conviction to be quashed and for him to be acquitted.

Wood has always maintained that Caroline Byrne committed suicide.
