Human remains have been found in dense bushland in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
Police say a member of the public made the discovery in a pocket of bushland near Murri Street, Katoomba, about 12pm (AEST) on Monday.
Officers from the Blue Mountains local area command established a crime scene, which forensic experts continue to examine.
A post-mortem examination will hopefully identify the deceased and establish a cause of death.
