IKCO to cooperate with universities

“These platforms are being designed and developed in B and D segments; different types of cars are slated to be made on these platforms within the next ten years, the first of which will be presented in 2014,” said IKCO Chief Executive Officer Javad Najmeddin.

Najmeddin accentuated the priority of introducing an innovation in fuel technology and invited universities and research centers in collaboration with the company to design new platforms for IKCO.

Innovation will help IKCO promote its export-oriented production, self-sufficiency, competitiveness and sustainable national growth, he said, emphasizing that the company warmly welcomes any suggestion from the academic centers.

The state-run automaker (IKCO) has exported a massive number of its various productions to different countries, including 11,000 units of Samand cars only to Russia between 2005 and 2008.

In its five-year future growth prospective, the company envisions reaching an annual manufacturing capacity of three million units, with exports of a million units per year.

Founded in 1962, the Iranian car producer is currently regarded as one of the leading automakers in the Middle East.

IKCO won an award from Tehran’s Third International Nanotechnology Festival in 2010, as the leading company in nano-related auto industry.
