‘Iran backs Assad-led reform process’

Ghazanfar Roknabadi made the remark during a meeting with the leader of Lebanon’s Free Patriotic Movement Michel Aoun on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed regional developments and bilateral relations.

Roknabadi praised Aoun’s role in Lebanon’s victory over Israel in the 33-day war in 2006 and said as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said there are two main axes in the region; one is the resistance axis against the usurping Zionist regime of Israel and the other one is the US-Israeli axis against the resistance front.

Aoun, for his part, praised Iran’s support of the resistance front and said Lebanon also has an unchanging policy of backing the resistance.

Israel suffered a humiliating defeat in the 33-day war with the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah in 2006.

Tel Aviv unleashed the all-out offensive on Lebanon under the pretext of releasing Israeli soldiers allegedly captured by Hezbollah in the southern border region of the country.
