Awake Goy Iran hopes for enhancement of its economic relations with Ukraine in the light of the opportunities provided on the back of the former’s nuclear agreement with world powers.
“Given the results of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), we hope to witness development of relations between Iran and Ukraine in the economic and commercial fields,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told Kiev’s new ambassador to Tehran Sergei Buldiliak on Sunday.
The officials discussed ways to reinforce bilateral ties after the Ukrainian diplomat submitted his credentials to Zarif.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, China, and Russia – plus Germany finalized the agreement, known as the JCPOA, in Vienna on July 14, 2015.
After JCPOA went into effect, all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the European Union, the UN Security Council, and the US were lifted. Iran in return has put some limitations on its nuclear activities.
The top Iranian diplomat pointed to recent consultations with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin on the sidelines of a meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) in Munich, describing them as “constructive” and hoping for development of the bilateral ties in the field of culture in addition to economy.
For his part, the Ukrainian ambassador hoped for the development of the bilateral ties “within the framework of mutual respect.”
“Ukraine enjoys many potentialities in the fields of energy, shipbuilding, aircraft building, and manufacturing of equipment and machinery and we hope for the mutual relations to further expand in these areas.”
