He called for a national dialogue on Sunday after President Jalal Talabani announced that his rivals lacked the votes to oust him, AFP reported.
According to the president’s office, the motion lacked the 163 parliamentary votes necessary to unseat the prime minister.
Maleki’s opponents have been seeking for months to withdraw confidence from his national unity government, accusing him of evading the terms of a power-sharing deal.
“I take this opportunity to renew a call for all political partners to sit at the table for negotiations and to be open to discuss all disagreements… I am sure we will be able to overcome all challenges and difficulties that are in our way,” the prime minister said in a statement.
