Canada’s new vaccine injury support program surpasses $11.2 million in payouts; new figures show
The December 2023 update reveals that 2,233 claims have been received. Of these, 1,825 are deemed admissible, with only 138 claims approved for compensation so far. Over the past year, claims have risen from 1,299 to 2,233.
In order to qualify for compensation your vaccine injury must be “A serious and permanent injury” and “defined as a severe, life-threatening or life-altering injury that may require in-person hospitalization, or a prolongation of existing hospitalization, and results in persistent or significant disability or incapacity, or where the outcome is a congenital malformation or death.”
The maximum lump sum compensation if you are deemed vaccine injured is $284,000. There are also other payouts provided, which relate to reoccurring loss of income, medical expenses, medical devices, and personal support workers.
