Karachi violence claims 10 lives

Security officials told Press TV that unidentified gunmen shot dead a local leader of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party identified as Malik Muhammad Khan, in the Lyari area of the provincial capital, Karachi, on Friday. The victim died on the spot.

The assailants later fled the scene and their whereabouts remain unknown.

Security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation after the attack. However, no arrests have been reported so far.

Separately, miscreants gunned down a member of the socialist Awami National Party, identified as Gulshan Khan, near Babar Market in the Landhi neighborhood of Karachi. The attackers later escaped from the scene on a motorbike.

This comes as police recovered a bullet-riddled body in the Daryaabad area of the city earlier in the day.

In another incident, unidentified assailants opened fire on a civilian car in the Gulshan Iqbal district of Karachi, killing one.

Meanwhile, assailants killed two people in Mangupir area of Kacahi. A civilian was also killed while his two sons got injured after gunmen opened fire on them in the Sultanabad area.

Likewise, attackers shot dead a policeman and injured two others in the Malir Kemari area, while a civilian was killed in the Lucky Star of Karachi.

Police also recovered a dead body in the Korangi neighborhood of Karachi late on Wednesday.
