Man dies in three-car pile-up in Victoria

A man has died in a three-car collision in Victoria’s northeast.

Police say the man was driving a car on the Murray Valley Highway when it hit the rear of a four-wheel drive waiting to turn right into the Barnawartha-Howlong Road, at Barnawartha.

A third car that took action to avoid the four-wheel drive ended up on its roof.

The driver of the first car, a 32-year-old man from NSW, died at the scene.

A woman and infant in the car suffered minor injuries and were taken to Albury Base Hospital.

The occupants of the other two cars escaped without injury.

The death brings the state’s road toll to eight, four more than for the same time last year.
