Martial Law? Rep. Sandy Adams fears Obama power grab

WASHINGTON — A White House order updating federal emergency powers has raised alarm among some conservative commentators, and U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams, that President Barack Obama is attempting to grab unconstitutional powers.

A columnist with The Washington Times declared the mid-March order — an update of a 60-year-old document outlining the president’s authority in a national emergency — “stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution.” The conservative Drudge Report website linked to it with the headline, “Martial Law?”

And Adams, R-Orlando, said it “leaves the door open for the president to give himself control over American resources during both times of peace, and national crisis.”

  1. So far there hasn’t been one conservative in Congress that has accused the Bush administration of over reaching with their executive powers when they knocked down the three towers on 9/11. Let’s hear one of the spineless sob’s express that notion and then I will get on the Obama bashing train.

    • While I agree with you that GW did a bad thing with the Patriot act, (and let us throw in congress) 2 bad decisions don’t make a right one. Let us speak out against both of them shall we.

    • You won’t be getting on any Obama bashing train because you’d just move the goal line…

The package of fascism called the “Patriot Act” the GOP forced through was actually milder than the packages Clinton attempted to force through after the 93 WTC attack and again in 95 after OK City…

All the shit Obama is doing, without even bothering to have Congress rubberstamp it, IS the original Clintonista package of oppression… Minus the mass gun grabbing. But that’s in the works.
